DO YOU MAKE EXCUSES?

Do you even know you’re making excuses? Sometimes we do it automatically and most of the time we’re not even aware we’re doing it.

We all make excuses.

We use excuses to rationalise ‘why’ we didn’t follow through with something. It can be a habit.

Do you look for reasons why you can’t rather than why you can?

Making excuses why you don’t go after that life you really want while you’re sitting at your desk daydreaming about it.

There are lots of reasons why we make excuses, here are a couple of the main ones that crop up for many people:

  • You’re experiencing fear – fear keeps you inside your comfort zone and prevents you from venturing into the unknown. The good news is that the more you investigate the ‘unknown’ (that challenge, change or process) the easier it will be to overcome. There’s always someone that has experienced it and can help you overcome it
  • You don’t want to fail – failure is just another way of looking at things. It just means that things didn’t go how you expected them to. However, if you can take that experience and turn it into learning then the real win is embracing the idea that making mistakes doesn’t really happen
  • You don’t have a specific goal (or outcome) and you feel unmotivated

‘Be stronger than your excuses’ Eric Thomas, essentially meaning without motivation you can easily come up with any excuse to not do something. Work out what you’re working towards and think the about rewards and results and what they mean to you

I dare you to not give yourself time to make an excuse not to!!
